The Eastern Districts Junior Basketball Association (EDJBA) is excited to welcome Davidson College Associate Head Coach James Janssen in the latest instalment of the Community Coaches Project.
The clinic will take place at the Narrandjeri Stadium, Darebin Road, Thornbury on Tuesday, May 27 from 7.00pm – 8.30pm.
Based in North Carolina, Davidson College is an NCAA Division 1 college. A program on the rise, Davidson are famous for producing NBA superstar, Steph Curry. The Wildcats are coming off their best ever season, including a win over NCAA powerhouse Duke University.
Janssen is the Associate Head Coach of the Davidson College Women’s Basketball Program. Janssen helped guide the Wildcats to their best ever record in 2025.
Janssen grew up in Melbourne and was a VJBL and Big V Player, VJBL Coach and committee member for the Blackburn Vikings before moving to the USA in 2012 to complete his Master’s Degree at Wake Forest University in North Carolina. Janssen began volunteering for the Wake Forest Women’s Program before ascending up the college ranks and moving to Davidson and moving up the ranks.
Janssen has been responsible for the recruitment of a number of Aussies to Davidson with this year’s team boasting five in their record breaking season.
The topic of the clinic will be ‘Skills and Drills‘.
