The Eastern Districts Junior Basketball Association (EDJBA) is excited to welcome Davidson College Women’s Head Coach Gayle Fulks and Associate Head Coach James Janssen in the latest instalment of the Community Coaches Project.
The clinic will take place at the Eltham High School, Withers Way, Eltham on Wednesday, September 18 from 7.00pm – 8.30pm.
Based in North Carolina, Davidson College are an NCAA Division 1 college. A program on the rise, Davidson are famous for producing NBA superstar, Steph Curry. The Wildcats are coming off their best ever season, including a win over NCAA powerhouse Duke University.
Coach Fulks is in her eighth season as Head Coach at Davidson after serving a long apprenticeship, including a long-time assistant coach with Wake Forest University after completing her playing career.
James Janssen, who grew up in Melbourne, was a Blackburn Vikings Junior, Big V Player, VJBL Coach and Committee Member, before moving to the USA to complete his master’s degree at Wake Forest University in 2012. After serving time on the Wake Forest Women’s Coaching staff, he was recruited to be an Assistant Coach at Davidson before later being named Associate Head Coach.
Davidson currently has 5 Australian Girls on their roster, as well Janssen, who has fostered the pipeline for Aussies girls to the college.
The topic will be individual and team offensive skills and concepts.
This clinic is possible due to the North East Link Community Fund.
