Following a very successful Girls Showcase day in July 2023, where all Ivanhoe and Banyule girls teams played across the 6 courts at Latrobe University, we are very pleased to announce a second Girls Showcase to be held in Round 12 on Saturday 10th February 2024.
Following expressions of interest from clubs, all Park Orchards, Blackburn and Collingwood girls teams will be playing at Mullum Mullum stadium and Collingwood stadium. Some Warrandyte girls teams will also be playing home games at Mullum Mullum so that all 98 games across the two venues will be girls games. Most other EDJBA clubs will also have at least one girls team playing at Mullum Mullum or Collingwood during the round. The fixture for the round is available at this link: https://bit.ly/3td8Th8
In addition to showcasing and celebrating girls’ basketball, the round will also support the Breast Cancer Network Australia (BCNA). BCNA is Australia’s leading breast cancer consumer organisation bringing together a network of over 120,000 individuals. There are many ways teams can get involved in the showcase including purchasing pink socks through the Breast Cancer Network Australia website or donating through the link below. All funds raised from the Girls Showcase will help ensure BCNA can continue to ensure all Australians diagnosed with breast cancer receive the very best care, treatment and support.
All clubs can be involved in supporting the round and supporting the BCNA. We encourage players from all clubs to wear pink socks on the day and supporters at all clubs to wear pink. Pink socks and other merchandise including shoe laces, scrunchies, bucket hats, beanies, tattoos and drink coolers can be purchased to support the BCNA via this link: https://pinksportsday.bcna.org.au/store Check below to ensure your purchase is recognised as associated with the EDJBA and your club.
You can also make a donation to our BCNA fundraising page here: https://pinksportsday.bcna.org.au/…/edjba-eastern…
To ensure that your purchase is recognised as associated with the EDJBA and your club, when you are completing your details in the checkout, tick the box next to “This payment is on behalf of an organisation” and then put EDJBA and your club name (club name optional).
This allows us to know how much merchandise was purchased for the Girls Showcase event.
We look forward to your support of this round!
