At the AGM on 2nd September 2024, some updates to the By Laws were approved. The updated By Laws are available here.  The changes will be implemented from the Summer 2024-25 season.

In summary, the main changes are:

  • The inner three point line (where available) is to be used for Under 14s and below, the outer three point line (where available) is to be used for Under 15s and above
  • Fill in players details must be added to the iPad / scoresheet prior to the commencement of the second half
  • A player who is playing in their own age group in junior representative basketball, and/or who is playing senior domestic or representative basketball, will not be given permission to play in a lower age group in the EDJBA
  • Any changes to club uniforms must have prior approval from EDJBA Committee of Management prior to final design and manufacture

The proposal to only allow fill in players to make up to seven players in a team was not passed.

Molten Basketballs

Over the past five years, Molten has been a very generous sponsor of the EDJBA and our clubs, donating over 10,000 basketballs to clubs for each team. For the Summer 2024-25 season, Molten will be providing a basketball of each size (5, 6 and 7) for each court to be used as game balls. This is an interim arrangement whilst the longer term sponsorship by Molten is finalised for the next 5 years.

This means that this season game balls will be provided by the venue, rather than teams providing the game balls.

The game balls should be used for EDJBA games only, to ensure they remain in good condition throughout the season. They should not be used for warmups, training or other competitions.

Many teams will have Molten basketballs from previous seasons, and are encouraged to use these for training and warmups. Molten basketballs must be used for games but there is no requirement to use Molten basketballs for warmups.

We appreciate Molten’s ongoing support and commitment to the EDJBA clubs and competition.
