The intent of the current State Government restrictions was that community sport, including basketball, be able to operate without vaccine requirements. This aligns with the desire of the EDJBA to allow all children to participate where possible. However, the government’s Open Premises Directions, under which most basketball stadiums operate, mandate vaccination requirements at a large proportion of EDJBA venues. This is the single driving factor behind the EDJBAs implementation of the 12 years and 2 months plus vaccine requirement for all patrons at all EDJBA games.
The EDJBA has been working hard with clubs and venues to find a solution to this and is pleased to announce a that 12-15 year old players who are not yet fully vaccinated are able to play at certain venues this Saturday 4th December (Round 4) and next Saturday 11th December (Round 5). Please note that the EDJBA policy remains that for all other patrons (spectators, coaches, staff, etc), vaccination is mandatory for 12 years and 2 months plus and at all other venues not listed below, all patrons including players must be fully vaccinated if 12 years and 2 months or older. COVID marshals will be at all venues enforcing check-ins and vaccination requirements.
Here is the list of venues at which a 16 year old double vaccination ruling will apply for Rounds 4 & 5 (Saturday 4 & 11 December):

Current indications from the State Government are that vaccination requirements will remain into 2022. The intent of this workaround is to allow time for players in the 12 to 15 year age group to be fully vaccinated by the first game next year.
As vaccination requirements now vary between venues, please ensure you are aware of the requirements at the venue/s you are attending. And please be patient and respectful to venue staff when entering EDJBA venues.
